I wanted to show you some new mixed media paintings I have done recently. Can you tell I am ready for spring? I would love to go to Paris in the springtime (only in my dreams so far!).

I still love banners, especially flag banners with a one word statement. I am thinking of making prints of these...it would be fun! I have lots more to show you in the days to come.

I have some new paintings with lovely ladies and cats too. It is addicting!

I love St. Patrick's day.....yes I am Irish (plus Scottish and English). This is one of my new digital signs.

I have alot of projects for St. Patrick's day on my ETSY. I love making things with old photos.

Funniest Valentine ever....

Isn't this the funniest Valentine ever!!! I just about laughed my head off at the antique store...had to have it. It is very old...mechanical ...and from Germany.

Here is the cat's other look....slightly naughtier eyes. Cat's are hard to resist for me How about you? Are you a cat person or a dog person? or maybe you just love animals.

This one is also from Germany. Valentines were so much sweeter in the old days!

I love the cherub faces. So sweet and innocent!

I hope you like these Valentines....I had to share them with you! I had to break away from my computer problems...I am fighting my old computer(if I could throw this thing across the room...I would!)....right now I am on the laptop. The break is already making me feel better.

My Tudor Make over

I wanted to show you my calendar make over for this year. Every year my husband gets a work type calendar....one with semi trucks on it....I am a girly girl....I don't like trucks! These calendars are great because they show 3 months at a time....love that. So I feel compelled to cover up the trucks with something pretty. Last year I made a tutorial on this...on left side bar.

I covered the trucks with old book pages and clip art of the the Tudors. I am a fan of the Tudors long before the show. I find them interesting because of the ambitions of everyone...it became their downfall.

I added a tag below Henry VIII....since he was the King. I also glittered them up....love sparkling things up!

Now I can enjoy my calendar all year!

Scrappy heart - so pretty!

I am so happy with this new technique I learned (new to me I mean)....a scrappy heart mini quilt.

I Bought the cool mag...called "Art Quilting Studio" by Stampington & company. Inside there was an article by Terri Stegmiller. She has a wonderful blog and the TUTORIAL on how to make the

scrappy heart is on her site....please check it out!

These are lots of little pieces of creams and reds....all those scraps you save cause you know you'll need them! It takes fusible web, cotton batting, and a slick pressing cloth.

It was fun cutting up these scraps with my rotary cutter....my sewing table became a mess of scraps....I can mess up a room like the Tasmanian devil!!

Love this!!! Everyone has fears...big and small. I like to think about my fears...and dissect them. I like to image the fear and really see if it is that scary. Is it going to kill you? Are you going to solve your problems...the ones that can be solved that is. Are you going to do what you can with in the best of your ability? We usually imagine far worse things .....things that couldn't really happen. Stop letting fears get to you. After some thought...let it go!

Freebie Friday- Be Kind berries & pitcher

I love freebie Friday...it is so much fun!!! This one is the "Be Kind" berries & pitcher design. I have made this into lil wool pins...great to use up all kinds of small pieces. You could stitch it up too.

I finally have this pattern done....my computer was fighting me....I duked it out...and won....lol...

Some weeks are just plain tougher than other weeks....this was a tough one....but I see things are getting easier.

So.... I hope you all have a terrific weekend. I might start my paint by numbers kit (It is a blast from the past...I used to love them) It is a beautiful Japanese garden paint set...got it at Christmas. Hobby lobby and Joann fabrics have some great paint by numbers!

Cutest Tomato Pin Cushion

Isn't this sweet! This design is from Wild Olive. Mollie makes awesome embroidery patterns...this one is called: Crafty characters. With this design you get lots of other sewing room/studio characters like yarn, scissors, glue, spool of thread...and many more...all with sweet faces. Visit her Etsy shop.

I turned the design into a pin cushion by cutting the stitchery in a square when done....backing is red felt. I added an old measuring tape and safety pin with buttons. I couldn't resist adding pink cheeks with a cotton swab and makeup blush.

You may wonder why a pattern designer buys another artists designs.....because for one thing ...it is so cute....I can't help it. I also like to learn from others and hope others learn from me. I have lots of patterns from other designers....love making something completely different. You can never learn enough about sewing, quilting, crafting, and all the others arts out there!

Bloom- my new lil painting

Hi everyone! This is a beautiful day...sun shining....but the snow is supposed to be coming. I guess this is the calm before the storm.

I wanted to show you all this 5 x 7 painting/collage I did last night. I had a blast adding old papers with paint. It has a 3d quality...even though it is not. I was thinking of selling this original on etsy. Do you think I should? I never know if my painting/collages are up to snuff to sell.

Yay!!!!! It's freebie Friday...and I am actually doing it on time!!!!! Whee!!!

This is a cat flipping for love....my freebie design. Just copy and paste/save on your computer.....print and stitch up. I am a huge cat lover! I love dogs too but I lately am very allergic to most dogs :(

I wasn't allergic to my dog Linus though...we had him for 12 years.

I love mice!!! This is my newest pattern....almost done....just a few more things to do with it.

I love working with wool, feels so good! You can never have enough pin cushions! This is now available in my Esty store. Also this pinkeep is on My Patternmart!

These mice are totally in love!!! They are thinking it is time to get hitched!

The heart is on a pin....just remove the pin and it is an everyday pin cushion. One could change the pin to a shamrock shape to make them ready for St. Patrick's day....he he.

Ribbon spools- organize trims now!

I love ribbons and lace....all kinds of trims....just love them. If you are like me....I get them at thrift stores and garage sales and they can be unruly. I decided I need to contain them. At first I wound them around large tags, but they slip off. :(

I made a spool shape and cut them from cardboard. Light weight cardboard or brown cardstock for seam binding and light ribbons. Thicker cardboard for heavy lace and torn strips of fabric.

Here lace is neat and I just added a large pin to hold it in place.

I love seam binding....these are so pretty. Imagine your sewing basket with pretty little spools in them.

Here I add a hole at the top so I could hang them up.

Lastly ...here are the shapes in various sizes.....just copy and paste...print out on cardstock and cut out. Use them as templates for all kinds of spool sizes. Small ones are great for thin small trims. Large would be great for fancy yarns.

Have fun and get wrapping trims up! (I am so bossy today).

Titanic- 100 years ago

I bet you didn't know I am a huge Titanic buff! I was very interested in it way before the Kate and Leo movie...I read all the books....saw the older movies....collected everything I could.

If only one thing could have gone better for the Titanic...well there wouldn't be a story then.

Titanic sank 100 years ago April 15th....and the movie Titanic is coming out in 3D in April as well.

I had alot of my collection put away....but I decided I needed to get it out for the 100 year mark.

My fav book will always be "A night to remember"....so good....read it if you get a chance.

Also the A&E special on the Titanic is awesome.....so much info and so well put together.

My fav line from the movie is "make it count" written on a note from Jack to Rose. I think we should all make it count everyday!!!

Sleepy kitty- cat quote of the week!

Good Morning....I know my kitty Fiona is saying...."Now the day so sweetly closes"....but don't cats sleep all day?! I personally want to be cozy in bed....so tired for some reason. I am torn between making my new pincushion design and going to take a nap. Seems like I have been on the go alot lately. How about you? Have you been doing all the mommy/wife things? Have you been helping everyone, but not taking care of your needs? Sometimes we need to be selfish.

Isn't this adorable! I love objects with little faces! You can't be sad when you look at this lil Valentine. It makes me smile. This would make a great element to put into a collage for Valentine's day.

I think Valentine's day is a great holiday to break the winter blues....here where I live it is unseasonably beautiful and sunny....but I know alot of you have been having typical winter weather.

I had a great time at the Flea Market with friends on Saturday...picked up some lovely vintage paper items.

Hi Bloggy friends! I just wanted to show you a piece of art I created for my sister Angie for Christmas. She LOVES COFFEE. She loves MATH. So I combined the two for her and this is called "Adding Caffeine".

I love adding old paper to collages....it makes me think that something that was long forgotten is now front stage again. I used a messed up Math book from 1893....very tattered and well used. I put the "100" of the front....for no good reason....only that it was pretty. I think is confused my sister.....lol.

I also love to add shading with brown ink and a small stiff paint brush. I got lots of nice gifts for Christmas....and amongst them I got some large canvases. I can't wait to create something with them.

This is one of the fun treasuries on Etsy. It is always great fun when one of your products is picked for a treasury. This happens for me almost everyday now....which I always LOVE. One of the things that brings success on etsy is listing alot of items.....when they are listed they are at the top of the search areas...more people see these. Since I sell alot of patterns and digital signs....I list them twice or more...over time. When people put you in their circles....it also attracts attention. Treasuries are fab....for even more attention. It helps to take good photographs of your items....sometimes just seeing how other people take their pics ...helps.

I will be giving more tips and hints I have learned.....over the next few weeks.

Almost New Years!!!! freebie snowman

I hope you all had a terrific holiday and had lots of fun.....I have been on the go for a week....partying like a fool! I hope to be settling down now.

My freebie for this Friday is this little winter fella...he is cute and simple. Stitch him up...I love stitching snowmen on tea-stained muslin from quilt shops and using 3 strand of white floss....makes for a nice color combo!

Our weather here in Washington state is nuts.....no snow...feels like spring....but you just know that around the corner we will be bombarded with tons of snow! Oh well....I am happy to not drive in snow currently.

It's Christmas Eve Eve!

We always referred to this day as Christmas Eve Eve...cause we had to feel like we were super close to Christmas by now! My daughter(14) is a twitter with excitement....she can't stand it....lol.

My husband is fixing his totally awesome Lasagna tonight....it is the best ever! Tomorrow we are having our ham dinner and then Christmas with family. My daughter made chocolate croissants and pretzels...and when my sister comes she is going to make a Christmas cake.

This is my magical Christmas ornament....it is magical because it won't take long to stitch up. Wouldn't this be cute as coasters? 4" x 4" squares...each with a different colored ornament (one all red, one all green...etc...). Sound fun!

On another note....I must see Robert Downey Jr as Sherlock this weekend....the first movie was FUN. I am a sucker for him and Jude Law. My daughter totally agrees. I am really liking how these Hollywood stars are getting older and still are the main stars of the screen. I say...give us more Harrison Ford, Meryl Streep, Kathy Bates, and Steve Martin.

Collecting Christmas tags

One of my favorite things to collect are paper products...especially Christmas tags. I love these little pieces of art...that are often thrown away with the wrap. They tell you a story about the time and what was popular at the time. Above is a groovy angel (I must have posed for it...lol). Those were the times of bright colors and cutesy drawings....which I love.

I think this Santa is older...he is stylized. I like how he is decorating his reindeer or hitching them up with bells. I have tons in my collection, but I only have energy to scan a few, since I need to do a million other things.

I love mice....again it is flower power...and bright colors. One of my sisters and I would ignore this tag and try to peek anyway....we had a naughty spell.

I think this dolly girl is so adorable. She is so sweet. I remember that style being soooo popular....I was fascinated by it! Makes me want to draw right now. Dang...I can't ....oh well.

On a completely different note....Last night was FEAR FACTOR.....yes the show that has been off the air for years came back. I love that show so much....maybe it is because I know in a million years I couldn't do even one stunt....so I like seeing other chumps...I mean people do it. LOL.

There is something exciting about New Years! I love a fresh start...the holidays are over....and on new years you can set goals....think of what direction you want your life to take! I also like a party!!! Now is the time to plan your New Year's eve party.

I love setting these tags around the snacks with party hats and ribbon curls.

These badge are fun to wear and simple to make....look great on a table tree too!

My little flash cards are perfect around the table and tied onto some glasses. My flash card set does not say 2010 anymore....it says 2012...in case you are wondering.

These signs are great to frame in a 8 x 10....dollar store and thrift stores has tons of frames.

My banner letters are fun to print and string onto ribbon making any saying or sentiment you wish.

This one cracks me up! I love collecting old photos....this one was a whole dollar! She has teeth...and lots of them. I have another of her when she is smiling big time...and let me tell you...the girl has teeth! She looks like a sweet soul though. she is the freebie Friday...copy and print. I love putting these in small frames...displayed around the house.

I made lots from old photos that I was done with....just add Santa hats, glitter, and a little saying!

Show me the merry...a play on words from Jerry McGuire (not sure if I spelled that right)....Show me the money.

Sometimes I use white felt for the trim of their hats, with dabs of glitter over it.

She is sweet...and a party girl no doubt!

Christmas Poodles!

It isn't Christmas ...without....Christmas Poodles! LOL. I don't have any poodles, but I can't resist artwork with poodles and sometimes when I see a ceramic poodle at an antique store..I want it...but I don't need it, so I usually pass by it.

This is wrapping paper I got at the Two woman show last weekend. It must be from the 50's. It is so darned cute....poodles on candy cane skis! I say it is a fun yet sophisticated wrap!

I wrapped lots of gifts today....it was fun! My favorite new wrap is blue Frosty the snowman wrap...so cute!

I grew up in the early 70's....when things were FAR OUT! I mean everything had wild color and bouffants!

My outfits I wore, cause mom made all our dresses and clothes, were mod mod mod. Wild patterns, bright colors, cutesy artwork, and all appliances were mustard yellow or olive green. My sisters had ...hot pants..lol. My mom was not going to let the smallest have hot pants. Those were fun times...lots of great memories.

I love cats.....as you probably already know. Right now I have one cat, Froy, sleeping under my Christmas tree. He looks like part of the decorations. His fur is all rumpled like a kids pajamas.

My daughter Selina has made a huge Christmas list...I have bought some things....but I always struggle with picking out the right ones...I hate wasting money on things that a kid barely ends up liking. I give her the old lectures....I am turning into my mom...lol.

Hi y'all! This is Princess Fiona when she was a baby....she is mommy to my current cats...Lucky & Trix. My little Fiona disappeared one day....never found her. She was cute and gave me 2 huge gifts- her kittens. I hate to say this...but..... she had the personality of a wet rag. I loved her alot though.

She is saying "What's Mew?"...I know it is corny...but with all the corny Christmas records I am listening to ....it goes with the territory.

Survivor is on tonight....yay....I love that show! I have always been on team "Coach"...Ozzy drives me bonkers.

This is sooooo me. When I create I have stuff everywhere~ it is like a cyclone hit. After I am done I try to tidy back to normal....but sometimes it builds up. Today I have a nice small flood in my basement....yay....I love this kind of stuff! Some of my records got wet....thank god it was only Steve Lawrence(I like him...reminds me of watching carol burnett as a kid) and some classicals that were damaged. I can always keep the records and ditch the covers. I guess if I had kept the records tidy I would not have this problem...I will never learn.

This is my booth this year....took a long time to set up (yuck)...but it looks cute. In the center is my chandelier of Christmas ornaments...hope it draws attention!

I like to put up my shelves full of goodies...lots of girly items of course.

I have burlap all around my booth as a backdrop.

I love filling the cubby hole with all kinds of items...from decorative bottles, to spools of ribbon, to lil burlap pillows.

Thanksgiving puzzle

Hello everyone....Are you getting ready for Thanksgiving? Are you secretly playing Christmas music? I do because it makes me create better...lol.

This puzzle above came from an old magazine from 1941....it is strange because the puzzle is to try to find the Indians....not so nice....but it is also strange because ...I can't find them. Can you? Maybe I am just not looking hard enough....but I can't see one.

I also keep looking for things in my studio, can't find them, and then find them right in front of my face....lol.

Making Christmas projects with an old quilt

I had this quilt that wasn't really old, but had seen better days...it kept splitting at the seams and such. I decided it was time to craft with it. I took pieces of it and gave it the strong coffee treatment and let dry. I love making tags....and I always use my copies of old photos I collect. Just by adding a Santa hat...she looks ready for Christmas. This is a simple bag shape, with wire hanger and glued on cotton batting for a trim.

This one is very similar to the first one...I added a yarn and cheesecloth covered wire (candy cane). I added some old pine twigs.

I love using old candle stick stands from goodwill. I made a star shape with open bottom, stuffed it, and then plunked it down on the candle stick stand. Add a tag and wrap with string.

I have made alot from this quilt and still have more to use. It is the never ending quilt!

I used to watch Mister Rogers neighborhood....and in "make believeland" there was Henrietta pussy cat.....she was the cutest cat puppet. Anyway she talked funny...she would say..."Hello Meow Meow Mr. Meow Rogers"...I decided that was pretty cool and so I did it too...I was like 4 years old. My sister still makes fun of that....lol.

Happy Veteran's day everyone!! I am a disabled vet from the Air Force. Bet you didn't know that! Other Veterans in my family are my husband Dana from the Air Force, my dad (royal air force), my mom from the Navy, My step-son from the Army, Uncle from army, another uncle from the marines, and cousin from army.

These cool pieces of art come from World war 2. They came from envelopes.

I didn't have time to crop them nicely....sorry. I went to the movies today with my daughter....we saw "Jack and Jill". It was so funny...in a silly way....which is what we love! We had fun...girls day out kind of stuff.

Good afternoon....really gloomy here...but I am trying to keep a sunny disposition.

I have a new pattern out today..... Give Thanks pocket pillow stitchery pattern ...on my etsy.

This one is fun because you can fill the leaf pocket with my "I am thankful for..." tags filled out by your family and friends(the free tag is on the left side of my blog).

The turkey has a sweet naive quality.

I put up my Thanksgiving decorations yesterday...it took me forever. We had to work on the hot water heater....then my husband cut himself badly....not fun. We took a walk in the sunshine which was lovely....but chilly.

I am going to have some pumpkin spice tea....to warm up! Lots of great teas at the store...so many options!

Hi all you crafty gals!!! Today I am telling you about a decision that I made in the past few weeks....one that sort of breaks my heart but is really good for me. I am completely quitting craft shows. My business with Hudson's Holidays....designing patterns and artwork is going great...growing all the time. I just don't have time to do craft show anymore....I have been trying to do everything.....from being at home taking care of the house, my husband, and my daughter....to designing my products.....writing my patterns....to running all the internet sites I have...photography....dealing with sales....mailing...it just goes on and on.

I love craft shows...I love making little goodies and seeing the people who want them and talking to them! I love playing around making things....I feel like a kid...but craft shows are alot of work and they take so much of my time from me.

Last year I started reducing the craft shows I was in...thinking that would work, but now I see I need even more time. I really am feeling broken hearted....cause I have been doing it forever it seems. I am even saying goodbye to the Farm Chicks show....which is an awesome show just like the Jim Custer shows....but I simply can't do everything. I recently got a pattern distributor....Petersen-Arne....and I really need to make designing the priority...and My little family has always been a priority. I will still do the Washington State Quilt show and Quilt Market because they are part of my pattern business. I am always going to have my patterns and other artwork like flashcards and collage sheets on the internet sites like my etsy and my patternmarts...etc.

It feels like a relief on one hand....to not have to make lots of items to fill a booth, yet sad not to be there at the shows. I will come as a customer to the shows! I will always fit time in for creating.

I love all the holidays....even Thanksgiving. I am coming out with a new Thanksgiving pattern very soon....must work on it since I am behind. This is my Turkey pattern....made from very inexpensive and easy to find items. the banner is included in the pattern.

This patterns has 12 circles for each month to velcro onto the heart....kids love to change each wool circle when the time comes.

This is my easy turkey stitchery....make s a small wallhanging or mat.

Happy Halloween everyone....I hope everyone with snow will still have a good time tonight...I know it must be strange to deal with snow before Halloween. This is the pumpkin that Selina and I carved....she thought it would be fun to have some of the inside pumpkin shavings coming out its mouth!! We also put plastic eyeballs in his big round eyes.

This is my daughter Selina....also known as Goldie locks and her one tiny bear! She wore her costume to middle school today...I had to make sure everything was pinned up. She had a BLAST at our Halloween party Saturday night....she and her friends lived it up. I was dresses as Bewitched and my husband was Barnabus Collins from dark shadows. It was a very fun party with lots to eat, Halloween costume contest, and dance contest.

My cat Trix says.....Be Safe tonight!!! I unfortunately will have no trick or treaters....we live in an area in the valley where no one comes....too dark I think ....with no neighbors.

Turkey & Candy Corn - Freebie friday

I don't know about you...but....I love Candy corn....I just can eat only a few because it is so sugary. Needle felting fun for Halloween

Hello everyone....it feels like fall now....that chill in the air and the changing colors on the tree!

I just wanted to show you projects I have made by needle felting....for Halloween.

Needle felting is fun and easy....you use a barbed needle and poke wool roving (loose wool...in hunks) into wool or felt or just blending the fibers together. Wool fibers have jagged edges...you can't see it with your eye, but it does. This needle hooks the fibers together.

I made this witches head by blended wool roving together...even her hair is wool roving...attached at the scalp area. Her eyes are so funny!

I love making pumpkins and then needle felting the pumpkins features. Plus I love using twigs and sticks from my yard in projects.

This pumpkin man's head is needle felted and I gave him a fabric body with felt collar and feet.

This toothy guy makes me laugh.

This is one of my patterns....lots of fun. I went alittle nuts making tons of them.

This crow looks furry...lol.

This witch doll is 100% needle felted wool roving....it was a challenge.

I had to keep her.

Another one of my patterns.....this is one big crow...he was just at the quilt show.

This huge skull sits on my bed...I made a Halloween quilt and he just looks like the centerpiece.

If you have never tried needle felting...I encourage you to try it....poking a needle into wool is a satisfying process....it is like a lil bit of magic!

Come to the Quilt Show this weekend.....there are LOTS of fabulous VENDORS (including myself..he he) and a wonderful display of pretty quilts. This show is one of the best in the country! There are 3 days to see it...Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

This is one of the raffle quilts....this is "Fred" and "Ginger" is another black and white quilt you could win. I will have my designs and patterns, unique supplies, and some one of a kind items to buy. Quilt shows are so much fun....even if you have never sewed...it is inspiring and the shopping is amazing! This is my "Trix" when she was a teenager. She was playing with the other kittens...like crazy. At the time we had tons of ribbon, rickrack, and strings hanging from our trees in the backyard...we called it "Crazy string land". My daughter and I had great fun creating this. Trix was playing and then literally fell asleep in the crook of this tree...just like a kid who is too tired to admit it. When I got the camera...she was waking up...probably cause we were laughing so much at her.

Selina is such a card! She is in eighth grade and having fun in softball right now. She has so many ideas.....that are really good. She might be an inventor or cop or singer/songwriter or designer or artist or baker...the list goes on and on. I try to teach her all I can, so she will be ready for her beautiful life.

Vintage Halloween ads- freebie friday

I just love old magazines (I love new ones too!). My favorite thing about these mags are the feeling as if you are traveling back in time! I love the decor, clothes, hokey recipes, and of course....the ads. This ad above is trying to get you to think roasting marshmallows and putting it on their crackers is a great Halloween party idea. Sounds alittle weird since they are like saltine crackers, not graham.

Coffee ads are so sweet...and I love to see a brand that continues on. I love the orange and black graphic. Click on pictures to see them larger!

How come when I am cutting a pumpkin....it is not so tidy and nicely done? Must be because I am using newspaper under the pumpkin instead of Waxtex! Oh well....I am not Martha and apparently I would have to live 5 lifetimes to cook like she does.

Cat quote of the week! Made by Trix (trick or treat) Hudson. She says....

"Don't make me call my flying monkeys!".

My trix is the hunter.....no mouse ever dare come into our yard. She camouflages perfectly with the bottom area of a tree trunk. I think she knows all this, because she is good. She is very hard to get a picture of however...she never wants to look at the camera no matter what stupid things I do to get her attention.

What are you going to do today? Any crafting? I am finishing up another prim Halloween project to make into a pattern....it is cool and different....I will post soon!

Berry Wreath- Free stitchery pattern

It's Freebie Friday again!!!! Each week goes by so quickly. Don't forget to check out my past freebies....click on the the left sidebar where it says Freebies. This is another design I used to stitch up on wool to make wool pins. I used to make hundreds of them because it used up my wool scraps and people loved them. I finally got burned out because I am not the type to make things over and over. I also used to solder pendants and such everyday, they all sold on ebay for quite a bit, but the market got saturated and I was tired of it. I need to focus on design now, but it is hard not to stray away. I like to paint my lil paintings, make little eco-friendly crafts, and try new products.....but I must focus!

I am going to our County fair this weekend.....with the whole family....I am sure I will eat lots of yummies....I must have fudge and funnel cake. I usually bring home some fudge because you can't have everything, unless you want a 3 day belly ache!

Salem Witch- digital print

Hi Everyone.....I just want to show you my new digital print...."Not every witch lives in Salem". I love this saying!

It is available for $3.69 on my Etsy. I Love creating for Halloween, it is like being a kid again. When I was a kid (the 70's) we had no Halloween decorations (so unlike today) and my mom gave us a pack of construction paper to make Halloween decorations each year. We would work endlessly on these....making witch silhouettes, moons, owls, cats, pumpkins, loads of bats, and such. We would glue and cut for hours. They would cover our windows and eventually would fade. It was so much fun though!!!

Yay! It's Friday! This was a busy week. My baby had her birthday and first day of eighth grade...so exciting. She has joined softball and has been so happy to see everyone again after the long summer. On a sad note, my husband has kidney stones and they are no fun at all. He suffered last night....men never want to go in to the doctors. He has had them before and knows what it is. He is trying to rest. I have been enjoying getting alot of work done....I have had so much I wanted to do but during the summer, my family comes first.

My Sister's Garden

Good Morning!

This is my sister's garden....her name is Cecilia but we all call her Cissy. She has a green thumb, unlike me. She has a gorgeous garden and yard in Mead Washington, near greenbluff. A few years back she had to sell her 1892 house to the state because a freeway was going to be going right through it! She and her hubby Steve fixed up their old house...which was in need of alot of work when the first bought it. So it was sad when she had to look for a new home, but she got a beautiful home now with lots of yard and a beautiful pool.

She knows how to make her yard so pretty with signs, birdhouses, and garden art amongst the flowers and shrubs.

These came from her old house, she transplanted some plants. This flower reminds me of our mom because we had them growing in our childhood home yard forever.

Pretty colors, she has such a good variety of plants.

I love all these flowers, but I can barely handle a few pots.

They have lots of fruit trees and these apples are getting ready.

This is the apple state and greenbluff is known for all the apple orchards. This is just another clue that fall is upon us. It is in the 90's here still, but you know it will be cold before long!

My baby is 14!....time flies

Yesterday was Labor day and my daughter's Birthday...she is 14! It seems like yesterday she was born and being diapered up. She looks like her daddy and is creative like me. Perfect. This is my sister Cecilia's pool.

Our cake was a troublesome cake.....it wanted to break and all. Oh well, maybe I will learn to not rush around like a chicken with its head cut off.

The party was fun....she got lots of nice gifts, had a BBQ, and we played bingo for prizes. She also got lots of money (I never got all this...so unfair)....so she is ready to shop.

Wow ....it is already September!!!! I am gearing up for my daughters birthday on Labor day and I am doing my best to make her party a happy fun time.

This is the Friday freebie.....Scaredy cat. This would look so cute stitched up or maybe as a wool or felt coaster. I love making crafts for Halloween....sometimes I spend so much time on it that I am behind on Christmas projects.

Picnic- Best Labor day movie ever!

Every year when I was a kid there were 2 things to be excited for specifically on labor day....One was the Jerry Lewis MD telethon, which we stayed up as late as possible to see like it was some glorious challenge.

Another exciting thing about Labor day was...the movie "Picnic" would come on TV. This was before a million channels, I think we had 6 or 7 channels. Every year you could count on it!

This movie is so good....it all takes place on one day. A drifter comes to town and changes everything for the small community. I love watching the interesting characters, all the heartache they have in their different ways, but also the uniqueness of them all. Yes, it is hokey, and is dated (love looking at peoples clothes, home decor, cars, etc.) but it is fun and truly celebrates the holiday. For me, I wish I had been alive in 1955, to experience this simple living...but then I soon realize I love the here and now!

Try to see this movie if you can!!!

I love Etsy treasuries!!! They are so much fun and I love what people put in their treasuries. I have made treasuries a few times on Etsy and my patterns have been in tons of treasuries (lucky!)...so happy about that!! It is amazing how many beautiful items are on this site....made by us crafty people.

Dark Shadows...can't wait

I loved the old Dark shadows! It was so much fun....creepy , yet romantic. I was too young when it aired originally..I had to see it when it was a rerun. I loved Barnibus of course but I also loved his awful servant Willie. I also thought Maggie Evans was the most beautiful woman in the world (I wanted to be her, but I was a strawberry blonde..lol). We had a dark shadows game when we were kids....we played with it so much that it fell apart. I got a replacement for it on ebay a few years ago and now my daughter, husband, and I play it. It is sort of like candy land, but scary.

I can't wait for Johnny Depp to play Barnibus. I know he will be different than the original, Jonathan Frid, but I wouldn't want it to be the same. They are both so great.

Some things are worth the wait!

Feeling Witchy?

I don't know about you....but I am feeling witchy! It is that time of year to make Halloween fun!

I love the old feeling that halloween brings, not only childhod memories, but that happy, crisp fall day....so beautiful.

Trick or treating was so special, one of the only times to get a bunch of candy that you didn't have to share with the rest of the family.

Making witches from old photos are always a fun craft to do.

Wool pins, I made over 40 of the pumpkin pins on the bottom....sold like crazy online.

Life is good- Free kitty stitchery design

It is Freebie Friday again!!!! Here is a lil design I drew up while I was in my gazebo with a margarita.....I thought ..."Life is good!" . I was inspired by my cats, they are always joining us in the gazebo, usually taking the best sitting spots. Their life is quite good since they are treated like royalty. Stitch this up while the kids play or waiting for a dr. appointment.

I took my daughter school shopping....yikes ....the jeans cost a fortune. I nearly had a fainting spell. She is also needing braces....my husband almost fainted....which would be a weird sight!!! LOL.
